Nigerian comedian and actor, Julius Agwu, has revealed that he lost sexual function after undergoing brain surgery in the United States in 2015.

Agwu made the revelation during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, uploaded on Saturday, while reflecting on the physical, emotional and career-related effects of the surgery.

During the conversation, the host asked whether the brain condition or the surgery had affected other parts of his body, including his sexual function.

Responding, Agwu said the procedure affected his ability to have an erection.

“After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work,” he said.

Other guests on the programme, including Mr Patrick, subsequently discussed the possible connection between the nerve involved and the part of the brain affected by the procedure.

The conversation centred on the part of Agwu’s brain that doctors treated and how the nerves connected to the area could have been affected.

Agwu underwent the surgery in 2015 after doctors discovered three tumours in his brain, one of which was reportedly about the size of a golf ball.

The comedian has previously spoken about the health crisis and the impact it had on his personal life and career.

However, his latest appearance offered a more personal account of an effect of the surgery that he had not widely discussed publicly.

Beyond his health struggles, Agwu also reflected on his contribution to the Nigerian comedy industry, particularly his role in pioneering music comedy.

“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said, reflecting on the creativity that shaped his career.

The conversation became emotional as Agwu broke down in tears while speaking about his journey and the people he felt abandoned him during his difficult period.

“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me, I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.

Agwu remains one of Nigeria’s recognised comedians and actors, having built a career around comedy, music and acting, while also featuring prominently in Nollywood productions.
