The Nigeria Revenue Service has warned Nigerians against a fake recruitment notice circulating online in the name of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service.
The NRS raised the alarm in a public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice”, published on its official X account on Monday.
The agency said it became aware of a recruitment notice titled “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement”, which has been circulating across social media platforms and other online channels.
The fraudulent notice purportedly advertises job vacancies within the agency and asks prospective applicants to submit their details through recruit@replacementnhrmt.org.
However, the NRS dismissed the notice as fake and warned Nigerians against responding to it.
“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service,” the agency said.
The Service also reminded Nigerians that the Federal Inland Revenue Service had been replaced by the Nigeria Revenue Service, urging job seekers to treat any recruitment announcement issued in the name of FIRS with caution.
“Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified,” the NRS stated.
The agency further clarified that it had neither commenced nor authorised any recruitment exercise.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf,” it said.
The NRS advised members of the public to disregard the circulating notice and avoid submitting personal information through suspicious recruitment links or email addresses.
The agency stressed that genuine recruitment announcements would only come through its official communication platforms.
“Any legitimate recruitment exercise undertaken by the Nigeria Revenue Service will be formally communicated through the Service’s official website and authorised communication channels,” the NRS said.
It urged Nigerians to independently verify recruitment information through those channels before submitting applications, personal details or documents.
