Mbaka: Doctors said I was medically, scientifically blind but I could see

Catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has recounted how doctors reportedly told him that both his eyes were medically non-functional despite his ability to see and read without assistance.

Mbaka shared the experience in a video at the Passion Centre following his return from the United States.

The cleric said he underwent a series of ophthalmological and optical examinations after years of stress and sleeplessness, with specialists using medical equipment to assess his eyes.

According to him, the tests showed that his eye condition had deteriorated beyond the level of legal blindness.

Mbaka said the results were sent to a contact, Chiogbu Chukwu, in Los Angeles, who subsequently consulted another doctor identified as Scott.

He said the doctors concluded that both eyes were medically non-functional, despite his continued ability to see.

“Chiogbu confirmed through Dr Scott that, medically, scientifically, the two eyes are gone. But I’m seeing with them,” Mbaka said.

The priest said the doctors initially assumed that members of the Anyanwu family had taken him to the hospital because he was blind.

He said he explained that he had travelled to the hospital by himself, prompting the doctors to question how someone with such an advanced eye condition could see and move around without assistance.

Mbaka said the doctors became more surprised when he opened his Bible and read from it in their presence.

According to him, the doctors said they could not explain his ability to see unless he had received new eyes.

“They said, ‘Except God has put new eyes.’ Yes, God has put new eyes,” he recalled.

Mbaka described the experience as a miracle but said he did not attribute it to his prayers or fasting.

“What then do you call miracle? I’m a beneficiary. I can now join you to give testimony,” he said.

The cleric, however, urged his followers not to abandon medical treatment while seeking spiritual intervention.

He advised people who fall ill to follow medical advice and consult qualified doctors rather than rely solely on prayers.

“I will always ask you if you are sick. Don’t neglect the medical advice. Do not rely only on prayers. God created those people that are doctors,” Mbaka said.

He added, “I believe in medical healing, even as I approve spiritual healing. However God does it, let Him be glorified.”
