VFD Group Plc has appointed Ijeoma Emezie-Ezigbo as its deputy managing director and executive director, effective October 5.
The company announced the appointment in a notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on October 2.
Emezie-Ezigbo brings more than two decades of experience in corporate finance, transaction advisory, mergers and acquisitions, business valuation and financial management across Nigeria, Canada and other African markets.
Before joining VFD Group, she served as Partner and Head of Transaction Services, West Africa, at KPMG Nigeria, where she led major transaction advisory engagements across the region.
She previously held positions at Stanbic IBTC Group, IBM Canada and Canadian Tire Corporation.
Emezie-Ezigbo earned a First-Class Honours degree in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria and a Master of Finance degree from Cass Business School in London.
She also completed the Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
The new VFD Group deputy managing director is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, an Associate Chartered Certified Accountant in the United Kingdom, a Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, Canada, and a Certified Valuation Analyst.
Commenting on the appointment, VFD Group’s Group Managing Director, Nonso Okpala, said the creation of the deputy managing director position would strengthen governance, executive oversight and succession planning within the group.
“Our institutionalization journey requires us to build governance structures, leadership capacity and succession frameworks that are sustainable beyond any individual,” Okpala said.
He added that Emezie-Ezigbo’s extensive background in transaction advisory, corporate finance and strategic leadership would contribute to VFD Group’s next phase of growth.
In her reaction, Emezie-Ezigbo said she would work with the board and executive leadership to strengthen governance and drive the company’s strategy.
“I look forward to working with the Board and executive leadership to strengthen governance, support strategic execution and contribute to building a resilient institution that creates sustainable long-term value for its stakeholders,” she said.
VFD Group said the appointment forms part of its broader institutionalisation strategy, which focuses on strengthening leadership continuity, developing executive capacity and ensuring the group can effectively manage its businesses across multiple markets.
