Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards have unveiled the full list of nominees for the 12th edition of the prestigious ceremony, setting the stage for one of the biggest nights in African entertainment. The awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on May 9, with expectations already building across the continent.

Ahead of the nominations, the organisers confirmed the appointment of veteran actress Joke Silva as Head Judge, succeeding Femi Odugbemi. Her appointment brings years of industry experience and credibility to the judging process at a time when African storytelling continues to gain global recognition.

This year’s edition features a total of 32 categories. Out of these, 18 will be decided by a panel of judges, 11 will be determined by audience votes, while three special awards will recognise outstanding contributions through Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer honours.

The organisers also introduced two new categories — Best Indigenous Language Film (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language Film (Central Africa) — in a move designed to broaden representation and spotlight more regions across the continent.
