‘A Plot to embarrass Tinubu’ — Cubana chief priest links Plateau killings to President’s birthday

Celebrity barman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reacted strongly to the recent killings in Jos, Plateau State, raising concerns over the growing insecurity across the country and suggesting a political undertone to the tragic incident.

In a series of posts shared on his Instagram story on Tuesday, the nightlife entrepreneur expressed deep emotional distress over the violence, particularly referencing disturbing footage of a woman and her child affected by the attack. He questioned the continued cycle of bloodshed, asking when the killings would finally come to an end and why people would choose violence over humanity.

He wrote that the images from the incident had stayed with him for days, leaving him unsettled and burdened. According to him, the persistence of such attacks reflects a troubling reality where human lives continue to lose value in the face of unchecked violence.

Cubana Chief Priest also turned his attention to the state’s leadership response, criticising the security posture displayed during the aftermath of the attack. He questioned why the governor would appear heavily guarded, suggesting that leadership requires courage and a willingness to stand visibly with the people during moments of crisis. He argued that fear from those in authority could send the wrong message to citizens already dealing with insecurity.

Beyond his concerns about leadership, he made a controversial claim about the timing of the attack. He alleged that those behind the violence may have deliberately carried it out to embarrass Bola Tinubu, especially as it coincided with his birthday period. According to him, such incidents not only result in tragic loss of lives but also cast a shadow over national leadership and governance.

He urged security agencies to step up their efforts, warning that repeated incidents of this nature undermine public confidence and expose weaknesses in the country’s security framework. He added that allowing such attacks to continue reflects poorly on those entrusted with protecting lives and property.

Cubana Chief Priest further called on God to grant the President wisdom and strength to surround himself with capable individuals who can effectively tackle the country’s security challenges. His remarks echo the growing frustration among Nigerians who continue to demand decisive action against violence and criminal activities.

Earlier, Caleb Mutfwang confirmed that at least 28 people lost their lives when gunmen attacked the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area. The governor described the incident as both tragic and senseless, assuring residents that authorities would pursue those responsible and bring them to justice.

The attack has once again brought national attention to the fragile security situation in parts of Nigeria, with many citizens calling for urgent and more effective interventions. The tragedy also comes at a sensitive time, as President Tinubu had earlier indicated that he would mark his 74th birthday quietly, in recognition of the serious challenges facing the country.
