The African Export-Import Bank has officially opened applications for its 2026 Internship Programme, offering a unique opportunity for young Africans and members of the diaspora to gain practical experience in shaping the continent’s trade and economic landscape.

In a statement announcing the programme, Afreximbank called on students and postgraduates from its member states, as well as Africans in the diaspora, to apply for the highly competitive initiative designed to build capacity and nurture the next generation of leaders in trade and finance.

The internship programme, which runs for up to six months, provides participants with hands-on exposure to real-world projects across key sectors including trade, finance, and economic development. Selected interns will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned industry professionals, contributing meaningfully to the bank’s mission of driving intra-African trade and economic growth.

According to the bank, the programme is structured to equip participants with practical skills and insights that go beyond the classroom. Interns will not only deepen their understanding of Africa’s trade ecosystem but also gain valuable experience in policy development, financial analysis, and project implementation.

Afreximbank, a leading pan-African multilateral financial institution, plays a critical role in supporting trade across the continent. Through initiatives like this internship programme, the bank continues to invest in human capital development, ensuring that young Africans are prepared to take on strategic roles in the continent’s economic transformation.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline of April 30, 2026. Applications can be completed via the bank’s official website.

With increasing demand for skilled professionals in Africa’s trade and finance sectors, the Afreximbank Internship Programme presents a valuable stepping stone for young talents looking to build impactful careers while contributing to the continent’s economic future.
